Over. The end. Finished. Full stop. Chemo. Done.

Those 16 weeks flew by. I suspect largely because, relative to others we've heard from, she got away with very few side effects.

In about 4 weeks her hair should start growing back. I can't wait for Sinead O'Connor to make an appearance. I could of course reference the Irish loons most famous hit but I think I would probably vomit with the sentimentality, as might you. (If this 80's pop trivia joke is lost on you try Googling it).

Alison the oncologist used some very positive language today. It's strange how significant a single letter can be. Turning has cancer into had.

But let's not get carried away. Although the chemo means it's "virtually impossible" for there to be any cancer in Sarah, as she was clear before it started, it can of course come back. Alison drew us a rough graph. Essentially for triple negative cancer at grade 3 it's year two/three where it's most likely to return. Get to year 5 and you are almost home and dry. Sarah's first year will be up around September. Her next pet-CT scan to see how the land lies will be late June as we need to wait for about 3 months post the radiotherapy.

Next phase is the radio-therapy which begins 15th February.

Hopefully she won't read this before I get home as I'm off to buy a bottle of champagne. Which feels like precisely the right thing to do. Although of course she's not allowed to drink any alcohol for 3 days. Saturday night it is then!

Rob.
