He's very reassuring and confirms what the NHS said yesterday. The diagnosis and treatment are essentially the same.
He makes sure we understand that there's no rush and that Sarah needs to be ready for the operation. This is not to say we have months to wait. His recommendation is to get a "pet ct scan" to give a better indication as to whether the cancer has spread. Again he believes this is unlikely although technically possible. Scan scheduled for 27th September and then results 28th.
Although we're still researching alternative doctors ( last count was 4 recommendations ) he "pencils" Sarah in for surgery on Friday 30th September. She would have surgery to remove the cancerous cells and the sentinel lymph node removed and biopsied at the same time. If during surgery they find suspicious cells in this lymph node then the rest of the nearby nodes are removed in one go. If all goes to plan she would be back home on Monday and be up and about after a few days.
