We got the results of Sarah's first post treatment CT scan at 12:30 today.
And it was "a fail", ie negative, as in "there is no cancer".
"Phew" doesn't fully justify our sense of relief. OK I'm a little understated. The wait since she had the actual scan last Tuesday has been somewhat distracting. The CD with the results on have sat on the study desk for that week. We briefly talked about trying to have a look at it. Deciding against it primarily on the grounds that what if we misread whatever we might see. Better to not and wait for the official verdict.
The week before last Sarah also had a bone density scan to see whether she had developed osteoporosis. This scan was also good news as they've no concerns about her. Next one of these tests in 5 years.
Lastly the kick-started menopause Sarah is going through has lowered her estrogen and made her joints/bones creaky. It's also meant she has produced a couple of ganglian cysts, essentially hard lumps. One inconveniently on her left thumb (she's a lefty in the non-political sense) the other on a right hand finger. She sees a specialist hand doctor next Tuesday to get them removed. The aches and pains will apparently go once her body starts producing estrogen again from other sources (fat cells I think).
Around the surgery on the 8th September will be more blood tests. Next CT scan will be in November.
