Her op is planned for this morning and I'm hoping she'll be awake and I'll be able to see her later. I'm going to take the children along tomorrow afternoon after their clubs and homework.

Not sure what the situation with mobiles is if you wanted to call at some point over the next few days. The main number is 020 7486 1234 and I'm assuming if she's sleeping then it will be diverted to a messaging service.

Without being entirely presumptuous it's also possible some of you might want to send flowers, chocolates and/or wine (!). I'm going to go out on a limb here (I'll get reprimanded for saying this as she loves flowers) and say it's probably not sensible sending them as she will be in for such a short space of time.

Perhaps instead of flowers you could donate to the charity Sarah's surgeon founded to research breast cancer cures called  Breast Cancer Hope? http://www.breastcancerhope.org.uk/donations.htm
